I purpose we make use of some of the new Internet tools available to coordinate an effort to learn more about our Parry and Hale ancestors.
Keep records on RootsMagic and/or PAF
PAF (Personal Ancestral File) can be downloaded from FamilySearch.org - free
RootsMagic can be downloaded from RootsMagic.com, there is a free version.
Do temple work. RootsMagic has links to new.FamilySearch.org and within the program you can share data between your computer and the church database. We can find what ordinances need done and then search for any additional information needed to complete the records and clear the names.
Keep all records of Herb and Clara’s ancestors on a free website, designed by RootsMagic and housed on Dropbox - free. Not an easy address - do we want to buy a web address for about $30 a year? Or does someone have an appropriate web domain?

Help search for historical records. Keep a record of searches and documents that help tell the story of our ancestor’s lives on GoogleDocs. Choose an ancestor to work on and fill in the form with the information you find or don’t find. If you write down that you searched Ancestry.com using this spelling of the name and these dates, and didn’t find anything the next person can use a different spelling or something or skip that search.
Save copies of documents you find online or scan into the computer in Dropbox - “Parry shared folder.” I can email you an invitation to download Dropbox and to share the folder. With Dropbox you can store and share up to 2 gig of info in the clouds. You can also set up other “shared folders” with other groups or family. I have some files and histories in that folder you can look at.
Keep a journal or log or blog of our activities and successes on Blogspot. This is also a good place to upload stories and pictures. I have set up a blog at http://herbparry.blogspot.com/ . This is another Google program and you can post to the blog by going to Blogger.com. If you have your own Google account, I can send and invitation for you to join as an author with your own sign in. I have put a lot of websites that are helpful to family history research on the blog also.
Links to others sources on the web, such as the family pages for the Hales, Johnsons and Pratts. I have put some links on the website and on the blog.
We also have the Parry page on facebook.com, that we can use to tell each other what we are doing. I use Skype to talk to and see Debbie and family in New Jersey. It is another free Internet program we can use to keep in touch. Please help me learn how to use all these tools - and others that come along - to our advantage.
